Accademia Musicale Umbra


What it is:

Accademia musicale Umbra is a non-profit cultural association, affiliated to ENDAS (Ente Nazionale Democratico di Azione Sociale), born in 1990 in Perugia.

Its aim:

The main goal is to promote, addressing particolar attention to young people, musical language in its different aspects and without bars to any genre.

Its activity:

Didactics and training - Advanced School of Music

The only one in Umbria it has been offering ONE-YEAR AND THREE-YEAR COURSES OF HIGH SPECIALIZATION for 15 years, mainly addressed to people who have already got a diploma from a Conservatoire or officially recognized Institute, held by teachers who are concert musicians of national and international renown, with the issue of a Diploma of High Specialization at the end of the three years; the Courses are intended to enable a greater widening of the study and knowledge of the musical repertoire helping closer young musician in the introduction in the world of job and in the daily contact with the obstacles that it involves. In that way orchestra and chamber concerts are constantly organized having the best individuals attending the school as protagonists. Students coming from Italy, Europe, North and South America, Asia have taken part to the courses during these years. Every year Masters and Seminars are provided held by musicians of world-wide renown. Masterclasses are proposed all through the year partly in overlapping to the one-year and three-year courses, mainly during the summer within the circle of UmbriaEstate. The one-year and three-year courses take place in the space of the calendar year with a summer break during which space is left to Masterclasses and the concerts of UmbriaEstate. The Superior School of Music of Accademia Musicale Umbra moreover provides three different paths:

POPULAR PATH: without limits of age addressed to anyone who wishes to approach the world of music without necessarily playing a musical instrument but knowing them by training one’s own ear to listening;

AMATEUR COURSES: without limits of age, addressed to anyone who wants to play a musical instrument as an amateur;

PROFESSIONAL COURSES: addressed to the ones who want to think to a musical profession sitting for the exams in state Conservatoires.

Concerts organization and production

- UMBRIAESTATE ( XIV° edition) international review that is annually held during the summer in several Umbrian centres and which includes masterclasses, conferences, concerts, meeting with great composers with the presence of musicians from all over the world.

- APERITIVO IN MUSICA( VII° edition) a series of aperitif concerts born from an important cooperation between Accademia Musicale Umbra and Accademia Teatro del Pavone; scheduled on Sunday morning at 11.30 at Teatro Pavone in Perugia; at the end of the concerts an aperitif proposed by an important Umbrian wine producer is offered to the people present. The main aim of this review is to contribute to the enhancement of a cultural space among the most interesting and particular of our region as well as to offer a further opportunity to listen to good music( with unusual proposals and ?of rare listening).

Accademia Musicale Umbra has been publishing, since October 1994, "Accademia" a quarterly review of musical information in which, in addition to its own activities, gathers articles and news of the international music world.
